1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND TECHNOLOGY OF WIRELESS COMMUNICATION
The Target Base operator receiving board is the central control and coordination engineering node of the Target series wireless location networks. The module is designed for two-way digital exchange of telemetry data, activation and reading of spatial geocoordinates from remote on-board boards installed on civil aircraft models, multicopters, weather probes and agricultural aviation platforms.
Information exchange is carried out based on advanced LoRa technology, which provides an unprecedented signal penetration range (up to 10–20 km or more when using intermediate boards in NW Bridge mode) in the absence of GSM cellular network coverage or Internet connection.
2. DIGITAL CIRCUIT SECURITY AND INTERFERENCE PROTECTION
The Target Base board’s safety circuit is designed for stable operation in conditions of extreme radio airspace congestion and the presence of high levels of critical industrial interference:
- Addressed Packet Verification: All digital data packets are broadcast in a secure manner using unique addressing identifiers. The Target Base board is equipped with a factory-installed engineering authorization key, which completely eliminates the risk of geo-coordinates being intercepted by third-party radio receivers or interference from neighboring wireless networks.
- FHSS Technology: The system uses a pseudo-random frequency hopping (FHSS) protocol that is resistant to interference. Ultra-fast frequency channel switching during log transmission makes the wireless circuit highly resistant to intentional interference and electronic jamming attempts in the commissioning area.
- Autonomous topology: The system is not tied to the terrestrial cellular infrastructure. Data exchange occurs directly according to the direct scheme “board board – operator board”.
3. ENGINEERING COMPONENTS OF THE MODULE
The standard delivery package of the module includes:
- Target Base operator receiving board in a protective mounting housing (dimensions: 70×40×25 mm, weight: 91 g including battery);
- Highly sensitive foldable 433 MHz RF antenna with removable SMA threaded mount;
- Information accompanying insert with a QR code to go to this digital regulation;
- Set of branded logo stickers.
- Lanyard
4. TECHNICAL REGULATIONS FOR FIRST START-UP AND BLUETOOTH SYNCHRONIZATION
The operator’s board interacts with the user interface (displaying geocoordinates on offline maps, changing internal timers) via a mobile application based on the Android OS. Synchronization is performed according to the following algorithm:
- Step 1: Make sure that the complete foldable antenna is firmly fixed (screwed) onto the SMA connector of the board.
- Step 2: Short press the PWR button on the module body to activate the power. The board will beep, start the primary LED indication, and activate the built-in Bluetooth 5.0 module.
- Step 3: Turn on Bluetooth on your Android smartphone or tablet and launch the official mobile app.
- Step 4: Go to the wireless device search menu in the APP, find the Target Base card in the list of available devices and initiate the connection.
- Step 5: After successful authorization, the LED indicator on the board body will change color to steady blue, accompanied by a short beep. The synchronization is successful, the board is ready to receive data.
5. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE CONTROL BODIES
On the Target Base board case there are two mechanical clock buttons for operational control:

- PWR (Power) button: Responsible for activating and deactivating the module. Switching on is done by a short press (0.5 sec). Complete shutdown of the board and de-energizing of internal circuits is done by holding the PWR button for a long time until the final falling sound signal appears.
- CALL Button: Used to force a wireless digital call signal to be sent over the air. Pressing the CALL button activates a remote polling session of the connected onboard boards to read and update the current navigation geo-coordinates.
6. LED AND SOUND INDICATION OF BOARD STATUS
The Target Base board is equipped with an intelligent system for informing the operator about current service modes:
- Flashing green: The module is on, in standby mode for Bluetooth connection with a smartphone.
- Solid blue: A stable Bluetooth link with your smartphone has been established.
- Single beeps (peaks) during search: Indicates successful reception of verified data packets from the remote board.
- BAT charge indicator light: continuous illumination of the indicator signals the charging process; complete extinction indicates the completion of the battery charging cycle.
7. REGULATIONS FOR POWER SUPPLY AND BATTERY MAINTENANCE
The operator board is equipped with a powerful built-in Li-Po battery with a capacity of 1800 mAh. To restore the battery life, a modern protected Type-C port is integrated:
- Power source parameters: Charging is carried out from any standard mains adapter, power bank (PowerBank) or on-board car socket with an output voltage of DC 5V (current consumption up to 0.5A).
- Charging process indication: When the Type-C cable is connected, the yellow LED indicator on the board body is continuously lit. After reaching 100% capacity and cutting off the power by the internal controller, the yellow LED will automatically go out.
- Technological recommendation: To significantly accelerate the energy recovery process and reduce internal heating of the printed circuit board, it is recommended to completely turn off the module power with the PWR button after connecting to the charger.
8. TECHNICAL SAFETY RULES AND HF CIRCUIT ALIGNMENT
- Strict RF transmitter restriction: It is strictly forbidden to activate the Target Base board with the PWR button and start call sessions (CALL button) without a pre-wound 433 MHz foldable antenna. Turning on the module with an open high-frequency circuit leads to a high standing wave ratio (SWR), critical overheating and burnout of the LoRa transmitter output stages. This case is a violation of the rules of the technical regulations and voids the warranty.
- Thermal protection: It is forbidden to expose the board case to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and critical temperatures exceeding +50°C to prevent deformation of the PLA plastic and degradation of the lithium polymer battery.
- Short circuit protection: When servicing the Type-C connector or performing mechanical service operations, avoid letting conductive liquid or metal objects get inside the case.
🔄 Software update
To maintain up-to-date features, wireless stability, and maximum security, we recommend regularly monitoring the release of new versions of proprietary firmware.
🔄 Step-by-step process of updating the firmware of the Base
The process of installing new software is as automated as possible. Strictly follow the following sequence of actions:
- In the special proprietary program, specify the path and select the firmware file that is compatible with your device modification.
- Connect the fully powered-off base to your computer using a standard Type-C cable. Modern operating systems will install all necessary drivers automatically.
- The program will automatically detect the active COM port (it will be the last device connected to the computer) and start the automatic system update process. Wait for the final message about the successful completion of the operation and do not disconnect the cable until the procedure is complete.
