Radiolocation in High Interference Environments: How the tBeacon Target Standalone Board Provides Stable Aircraft Location Monitoring
Modern conditions of operation of unmanned civil aviation dictate strict rules. Today, the loss of an aircraft most often occurs not due to mechanical failure, but due to a critical level of external radio interference, dense electromagnetic noise and blocking of satellite navigation signals. When standard telemetry disappears from the screens, and mobile communication in the monitoring area is completely absent, saving expensive equipment turns into a lottery.
It is to solve this complex technical problem that tBeacon Target was created – a flagship autonomous digital radio detection board of the new generation, completely designed and manufactured in Ukraine. Our developers took into account real engineering experience of operating electronics in extreme conditions and areas without coverage to create an ultra-reliable component that returns control over the situation where other methods are powerless.
Digital Evolution: Why LoRa and FHSS are the No-Cost Immunity Solution
Previous generations of beacons relied on analog communication channels. However, tBeacon Target has made a real technological breakthrough by switching to advanced digital LoRa modulation. This has allowed for unprecedented immunity to interference and record-breaking signal transmission range – up to 10 km in a line-of-sight zone, and this figure increases significantly if the receiving antenna is raised to a height or if a repeater is used.
But the main advantage of Target boards is their ability to operate stably in conditions of critical levels of external radio noise:
- FHSS technology: The board is protected from interference by ultra-fast pseudo-random switching of operating frequencies. The signal constantly changes frequency channels on the air, which makes it resistant to dense industrial interference and busy radio air.
- Address coding protocol: Location coordinates are broadcast in the form of unique digital packets with their own identification. Distortion or substitution of this data by third-party devices is excluded – packet recognition is performed exclusively by your personal tBeacon Target Base baseboard.
Engineering excellence in every gram
When designing components for aeromodelling and civil UAVs, every gram counts. Despite the presence of a powerful built-in GPS navigation module and intelligent power saving algorithms, the weight of the tBeacon Target board itself is only 7 grams! The weight with the recommended external 500 mAh Li-Po battery connected is only 17 grams.
The board has a thin and compact form factor (26×49 mm), making it easy to mount on any frame, wing, or inside model fuselages.
The component implements a convenient installation principle – the board is completely autonomous from the general system, does not require SIM cards or interference with the aircraft’s onboard electronics. Activation occurs when the interface cable is connected to the model’s onboard network, and the external battery provides up to 7 days of standby time. For final location monitoring in open areas (in thick grass, bushes or at night), the board is equipped with a super-loud buzzer and a bright LED. The external battery is charged through the board thanks to the modern and reliable USB Type-C port.
Android Ecosystem: Map coordinates in one click
All work with tBeacon boards and the base station is integrated into the convenient proprietary Android application GPS Marker. The operator’s base board instantly connects to the smartphone via the energy-efficient Bluetooth 5.0 protocol.
The application reads the standard NMEA navigation protocol and automatically converts the received encoded coordinates for display on Google Maps. The most important thing is that the application fully supports work with offline maps. Even if there is no mobile communication and Internet around you for tens of kilometers, you will still clearly see the location of your aircraft and your movement towards it.
R&D and custom development: Adaptation to your tasks
We are proud that tBeacon target is a completely Ukrainian product, from the idea and design of printed circuit boards to writing unique software and final assembly. Full control over the production cycle gives us a unique advantage in the market, which imported analogues lack.
We understand perfectly well that large industrial enterprises, agricultural holdings, commercial companies or research centers often face specific, non-standard and extremely complex technical tasks. Since we are the direct developers of the entire tBeacon target line, our team is ready to offer individual adaptation and customization services:
- Software modification: Changing operating algorithms, implementing specific energy-saving modes, or adapting data transfer protocols to your individual industrial interfaces.
- Hardware adaptation: Changing the shape of the board, integrating it into specific internal compartments of your type of aircraft, removing buttons or connectors.
- Development from scratch: Creation of unique telemetry solutions and radio detection modules for your individual technical specifications (TS).
One tBeacon Target Base board is capable of coordinating the work of up to 99 boards simultaneously, which allows for the deployment of large-scale location monitoring networks for large fleets of civilian equipment and models.
Conclusion
tBeacon Target is not just an electronic component, it is an investment in the long-term reliability and safety of your expensive equipment. Created in Ukraine to work in difficult industrial and extreme weather conditions, this autonomous radio detection board proves that domestic engineering solutions are able to stay ahead of global radio electronics trends.
